PTO President's Message
On behalf of the Lakewood Montessori Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), I would like to welcome you to the school and to its amazing group of parents. The PTO was formed in 2006 and our mission is simply to support our wonderful school and the hard-working teachers and staff.
In the past we have done fundraisers; both small and big; and used the proceeds to purchase playground equipment, a laminator and supplies, playground upgrades (i.e. curbing and bark), teacher appreciation activities, install a sink in the art room, classroom materials, and the grandest of all – establish an incredible library! In addition, funds have already been raised to acquire a kiln for the art program. Examples of some of the fundraising events that have taken place are: Box Top for Education; Holiday Photos taken at the Holiday Party; Chili Feed/Bake Sale; School Cookbook sales; Holiday Bazaar; T-shirt and Small Hands Catalog sales; and an Art Auction. The events have been very successful as well as enriching in the process!
Don’t miss the opportunity to come to a meeting and become involved in this organization. It’s a great chance to meet other parents and be involved in the school. You will be a part of making your child’s years at school an even more rewarding and enriched experience.
Meetings are usually held on the second Thursday of the month from 6:00-7:00 pm. Childcare is provided. Meetings consist of planning upcoming fundraisers, budget decisions, updates on current projects, and a chance for parents to ask questions of Mary and/or Karen. In addition, most meetings will include a presentation by one of the teachers on one aspect of your child’s education. Officers for the upcoming school year are elected at the May meeting. Anybody interested in volunteering for an officer position or nominating somebody who would be interested, can contact me or the school.
